A Variety of Recipes For The Busy Cook


From stay-at-home folks to busy company executives, all cooks relish having a gaggle of fast and straightforward recipes in their files.  Below you may notice a set of fast and straightforward recipes for those cooks.

SUPER fast CHILI WITH BEANS

2 lb lean ground beef

2 tbsp chili powder

1 tbsp Creole seasoning

1 tsp cumin

2 cans (16-oz each) chili-ready tomatoes, don't drain!

2 cans (16-oz) tiny red kidney beans

2 cans (8-oz each) tomato sauce

Optional toppings: shredded cheese sliced inexperienced onion chopped cilantro bitter cream

In a Dutch oven brown the bottom beef over medium-high heat, stirring usually, till the meat is browned and crumbly.  Drain the meat well and come to the Dutch oven.

Stir within the chili powder, Creole seasoning, and cumin; and cook whereas stirring for a couple of minute.  Stir within the tomatoes with the juice, beans, and tomato sauce.  Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.  Cover, scale back heat to low and simmer, stirring sometimes, for quarter-hour.

To serve, ladle into bowls and high with the toppings of your alternative.

Yield: eight servings

DELICIOUS COCOA FROSTING

2 cups powdered sugar

6 tbsp unsweetened baking cocoa

2 tbsp butter, softened

1 tsp vanilla extract

6 tbsp milk

Combine all ingredients in an exceedingly bowl.  Beat till combined, creamy, and of spreading consistency.  Use to frost brownies or cake.

Yield: two cups.

Note: Add powdered sugar a dab at a time, if frosting is simply too skinny for your use.  Add milk, a teaspoon at a time till skinny enough to be used, if too thick for spreading.

CRUNCHY PEA SALAD

1 pkg (16-oz) frozen peas, thawed

1 will (8-oz) sliced water chestnuts, drained

1/2 cup diced red radishes

1/2 cup diced red bell pepper

1/3 cup diced red onion

1/3 cup reduced-fat mayonnaise

1 tsp dill

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp poppy seeds

In a giant bowl mix the peas, water chestnuts, radishes, red bell pepper, and onion.

In a tiny bowl mix the mayonnaise, dill, garlic powder, and poppy seeds till well blended.  Pour dressing over the vegetables and toss gently to coat well.

HOMEMADE BISCUITS IN MINUTES

2 1/4 cups all-purpose soft-wheat flour

1 tbsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

2/3 cup milk

1/3 cup canola oil

waxed paper

Preheat oven to 475 degrees.

Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt along into a bowl.  Stir within the milk and oil; employing a fork, stir till the dough leaves the edges of the bowl and forms a bowl.

Turn dough out onto gently floured wax paper and knead eight to ten times.  Roll or pat the dough into a 1/2-inch thickness and cut with a 2-inch biscuit cutter or glass.  Reroll scrapes till depleted.  Place the biscuits concerning 3/4-inch apart on a gently greased baking sheet.

Bake at 475 degrees for ten to twelve minutes or till gently browned.
